We will be at the Maple Street Post Office from noon--2 pm. Please join us. We need a show of numbers.
2. Chain of letters to the editors. - If you signed up, but no inspiration hit or a time crunch did, please write this week using some of the information on the links page. . You will reach 1000's of people and support our Resolution Campaign.
3. Visit to Coble: Julie Budd, Anne Cassebaum, Barbara Clawson, Betsy Crites, and Ralph Macy went to visit Rep. Coble on April 1 to discuss Iran, F-35 and HR 1238 - True Cost of War Act. We thanked him for past actions to limit Pentagon spending, got some interest in the F-35 aircraft and HR 1238 and reminded him of our mission. Useful visit that Betsy helped us organized--thanks to all.
4. Resolution Campaign - Board of Education We need to follow up again and Julie reminded us that the events on bullying this Sunday and Thursday at Elon will be great opportunities to run into members of the Board of Education and extend the "resisting bullying" metaphor to taking a stand against Pentagon spending .
Thursday, April 11-- Cynthia Lowen, “Not Just Kids: Bullying from the Playground to the Workplace & Beyond” Whitley Auditorium, Elon University, 7:30 p.m.
How does bullying transcend the schoolyard, following us into our workplaces, communities, family relations, and online? In this engaging multimedia presentation, Lowen combines clips from the film Bully, as well as pop-culture references, news stories, and more to illustrate the key characteristics of bullying behaviors and long-term patterns for the target, the bully, and the witness; how to identify bullying and its impact; and how recognizing and preventing the behavior can create a positive culture-shift.
That's the wrap up.
Hope to see you on Friday, May 10th, 7 pm - our next meeting- at 508 W. Davis Street, Burlington.
